What does the vignette cover?
The Swiss e-vignette is required on national motorways and motorroads (green signs) for vehicles up to 3.5 t, including motorcycles. It is issued for the calendar year and valid from 1 December of the previous year until 31 January of the following year.
Trailers and caravans need their own separate vignette in addition to the towing vehicle.
Driving without a vignette
Driving without a valid vignette is fined CHF 200 (≈€210), plus you still have to buy the vignette. Checks are carried out by police and customs, including automatic plate recognition for the e-vignette.
